Hosted by the Austin Chapter of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals, the symposium has become a highly recognized regional conference for the addiction recovery community, featuring national speakers and sponsors.
Started in 2008, the original intention for the one day event was to provide clinical education about upcoming trends and new developments in addiction recovery. Each year the symposium has grown both in attendance and recognition, now in it's 7th year.
The 2014 “Developments in Addiction Treatment” conference title features keynote speaker, A. Thomas McLellan PhD, CEO and founder of the Treatment Research Institute(TRI) in Philadelphia. With over 35 years of experience in addiction treatment research, Dr. McLellan will share his specific viewpoint on how substance abuse treatment currently fits into the big healthcare picture.Other speakers include Elinore F. McCance-Katz MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer at SAMHSA, and Carlos F. Tirado MD,MPH,FABAM, Medical Director and Director of Clinical Innovation at Right Step Hill Country and Promises Austin.

Since 2006, Benchmark Recovery Center has provided an extended-care recovery program for adult men and women struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction. Located east of Austin Texas on 70 acres in the small community of Manor, the gender-specific 90-day residential program focuses on the 12 Steps, life skills, spirituality and fitness. After completing the residential phase, clients transition into company-owned sober living and 12 months of aftercare monitoring.
