The launch of the new website continues the mission of Corbet to evoke thought and meditation through the abstraction of beauty. The trained artist uses her paintings as constant experimentation for different perceptions of reality. She uses her artwork to initiate dialogue between people who often have challenges in expressing what they feel.
The latest art studies have found that more artists are experimenting with abstract art. As society is rapidly changing, so too do the concepts of beauty and artistry. Modern art enthusiasts claim that more people are appreciating fluid abstraction art as metaphors of life. That is, a single image could have different meanings for various people.
This acknowledgment of perception, and the role it plays in how reality is viewed, is the key expression in Corbet’s art. The Australian artist is well-known her for expressive, often moody, works that still display a playful side.
Corbet describes her style as one that follows “suyula” which is Arabic for fluidity. She says that she uses paint to create a fluid-like feel into her work, a representation of focused immersion into everyday activity. By blending colors and textures, Corbet achieves suyula and hopes to convey that emotion to those who view her work as well.
The artist completed her Fine Arts diploma, both Stage 1 and 2, at the North Coast Institute of TAFE, Lismore. She then proceeded to exhibit all around Australia, garnering many awards. In 2018, she was a finalist in the 40X40 Exhibition in Gallery 7, one of the biggest galleries in New South Wales.
Corbet says, “My paintings suggest different states of consciousness. It aspires to take the viewer beyond the superficial to discover something more universal. In becoming aware of the infinite, we embrace the unknown.”
