AskEarlAbout updates its Kayak Storage Rack Ideas and Options Page

Kayaks are increasingly popular form of summer enjoyment. They require storage when not in use. This revised website reviews several of the available kayak storage solutions available.

Minnesota based AskEarlAbout.com has recently upgraded its specialty page dedicated to Kayak Storage Systems.

As Spring approaches many enthusiasts will be enjoying the summer weather by kayaking. The Kayak has become an increasingly popular past time, due to its relatively lower cost and ease of transport compared to the traditional pleasure boat.

Also within both the freshwater and saltwater fishing fraternity, the kayak has begun to emerge as a new favorite, due to the proximity to the water the kayak offers.

“The sometimes forgotten problem when buying a kayak is how and where to store it,” says Earl Netwal the owner of TheAskEarl site as well as a related blog on fishing called the Occasional Fisher.

There are multiple kayak storage options. The ideas generally include storage cradles or hooks; storage racks and storage hoists.

Some rely on gravity to secure your kayak, others have straps for added security. Some will fold away to save space when not in use, others are rigid.

Some will take up more space in your garage than others. This is usually the first key selection criteria for most people. There are many kayak hooks for wall mounting, and kayak hoists to get the kayak up and out of the way for ceiling storage.

The revised AskEarlAbout.com/KakakStorage site identifies about a dozen kayak storage products and offers images of them in operation. Most are readily available on Amazon, making for easy ordering and reliable delivery.

Major features of each system are noted, although pricing is not offered, as prices tend to change more often that the page can be updated.

Many of the systems work for canoes and other occasional use items as well.

The AskEarlAbout site is a static one, Earl admits. His goal is to ultimately develop a section in the Occasional Fisher site to deal with all things kayak, including kayaks themselves and other kayak gear.

The real key to kayak storage is to answer two important questions. Where is their space to store the kayak so it is out of the way. And secondly, how easy will it be to lift the kayak into and out of the storage device. After that, you may want to focus on price.

“That’s why a lot of people go for the ceiling mounted systems,” Earl says. “They may cost more, but it is nice to get the kayaks up in the air, over your cars with a lift or pulley system – if you have the ceiling height to do so.”
