Asher College will use funds allocated by the newly created Emergency Stabilization Grants program of the CARES Act to support students financially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sacramento’s Asher College has announced they will be disbursing grants awarded to Asher College to help current students cover student expenses through funds provided by the new Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).

Signed into law on March 27, 2020, the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act) is bi-partisan legislation necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has caused a global health crisis, sending the economy into a downturn, forcing millions to file for unemployment, and compelling students to continue their educational programs through distance learning. Through the CARES act, the U.S. Department of Education was able to direct funding to eligible organizations like Asher College, which can then provide students direct financial assistance through the emergency relief grant.

“COVID-19 has caused a global health and economic crisis. During this time of uncertainty and instability, Asher College wants to support our students in every way possible.” Asher President & CEO David Vice said. “Thanks to the CARES Act and the U.S. Department of Education, we will be able to distribute much needed financial assistance directly to our students.”

Asher College notified its current students with information on the CARES Act the week of May 13th. Distribution will begin when Asher can verify the student’s eligibility and the funds are received from the Department of Education. President and CEO David Vice said, “Asher College is pleased to have been able to secure this for our students and happy to assist in facilitating the allocation of these funds on their behalf.”

Asher College provides career training for in-demand, even essential careers, including administrative healthcare workers, pharmacy technicians, as well as information technology and business careers. Asher’s top priority during this uncertain time is the health and safety of students and the community, and so all current Asher students are receiving classroom instruction through distance learning. Current Asher students are continuing their programs of study uninterrupted through this COVID-19 pandemic, and Asher is currently enrolling for all programs.
