On October 5, 2013 Dr. Michael Crary and Dr. Giselle Carnaby will be training participants in the an exercise based therapy for swallowing disorders. This event will be held at the Raleigh Marriott City Center located at 500 Fayetteville St., Raleigh, NC 27601. The event is sponsored by ProCourseCEUs.com and hosted by Carolina Speech Pathology.

This course provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of the MDTP framework to provide individualized therapy to adults with dysphagia. Participants will be certified MDTP providers upon completion of this course. The highly acclaimed instructors are Director and Co-Director of the Swallowing Research Laboratory and are both ASHA Fellows.

This program is available and offered for .8 CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area).

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the components of MDTP therapy and how it is different from traditional therapy
- Describe current clinical research supporting MDTP therapy
- Explain how MDTP uses exercise principles to improve swallow function
- Explain physiological changes in swallowing that may result from various foods/liquids
- Use specific clinical tools in the evaluation of patients for participation in MDTP therapy
- Conduct MDTP therapy sessions and monitor patient progress and outcome
