Artist’s Solo Exhibition Highlights his Versatility and Influence of Family’s Rich History

When Alexander Dakers debuts his newest works at an exhibition or a gallery, the public has come to know that they can expect the unexpected. That’s because this increasingly popular artist does not limit himself to a specific genre or subject matter. In fact, his body of work encompasses wide-ranging subject matter created across varied mediums. Over the years his work has been found in galleries, at exhibitions, in homes, on stage sets and on the walls of schools and other public spaces.

Yet, one thing is a constant in all of his pieces – it reflects in some way the influence of his family history. His grandfather, Leopoldo Osorio, factors especially into his work. Osorio was imprisoned with a life sentence for his political views during the Augusto Pinochet regime in Chile during when thousands died. After three years in jail he was released due to the efforts of Amnesty International. And Dakers continues to do what he can to repay that kindness, raising over £8,000 for the organization since 2012.

“Nothing excites me more than the possibility of what a blank canvas holds,” Dakers explained in recent interviews on Business Innovators radio and in Small Business Trendsetters magazine. “I use my art to tell stories, capture the essence of a moment, and make viewers feel something about important events – and most of all, to keep my grandfather’s memory alive.”

Dakers solo exhibit at the Brick Lane Gallery will be held from 18th till the 24th June with a private viewing on June 19th. All monies raised through sale of merchandise and mosaic at the event will benefit Loop, a Czech Republic non-profit that provides employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. He has also set up a Go Fund Me page to boost the cause at www.gofundme.com/helping-a-factory-for-disabled.

His works encompass use of graphite pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolors, pen and ink, acrylic and oil paint and he does commissioned work to include portraits, landscapes, abstracts and more.

“I am excited to continue to share my work with people around the world so we can continue to celebrate the things that unite us – and two of those things are art and empathy,” added Dakers.
