Currently, the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak has caused an unprecedented shortage of disinfectants, hand sanitizer and cleaning agent, especially in the U.S. and Europe. To better aid in the global COVID-19 response, Alfa Chemistry released a bunch of sanitizer raw materials earlier this month. The company has served the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for years and in such hard times will still be fully supportive to its clients worldwide.

Previously, hand sanitizers were viewed as an accessory product to hand wash soaps and liquids. Since no vaccines or antiviral drugs have been developed yet to prevent or treat the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, the importance of using hand sanitizers for personal hygiene and disinfection has reached a new high. To stop coronavirus from further spreading and to tame the death toll, washing hands with sanitizers and wearing masks in the public are most recommended practices.

“The three major active ingredients of hand sanitizers are benzalkonium chloride, ethyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol,” says a senior scientist from Alfa Chemistry. “Benzethonium chloride is active against a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, moulds and viruses. It has a role as an antiseptic drug, a disinfectant, an antibacterial agent, an antiviral agent and an antifungal agent. Povidone iodine (PVP-I), also known as iodopovidone, is an antiseptic often used for skin disinfection before and after surgery.”

Except for benzethonium chloride and povidone iodine, Alfa Chemistry also provides other sanitizer raw materials, including Polyhexamethyleneguanidine hydrochloride (CAS 57028-96-3), Pol(iminocarbonimidoyliminocarbonimidoylimino-1,6-hexanediyl)hydrochloride (CAS 32289-58-0), Benzalkonium bromide (CAS 91080-29-4), Coco monoethanolamide (CAS 68140-00-1), Didecyldimethylammonium Bromide (CAS 2390-68-3), and Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride (CAS 7173-51-5).

If customers can't find the sanitizer raw materials they need as mentioned above, please send an email to support@alfa-chemistry.com or visit https://www.alfa-chemistry.com/covid-19.html to learn more.
