The Albuquerque church was founded in 2001 by pastor Thomas W. Huffman, a native to Albuquerque. After his own journey discovering God in the middle of an early adulthood crisis, Thomas decided to dedicate his life to worshiping and promoting a strong Christian community in Albuquerque.

With the City Baptist Church growing steadily, pastor Huffman has recently announced that part of the new mission of the Church will be to provide financial and spiritual aid to other struggling churches and parishes in New Mexico and nationwide, thus promoting a spirit of mutual Christian support.

The City Baptist Church will also help create new churches in various areas, in an effort to promote missionary efforts.

The recent announcement comes as part of pastor Huffman’s efforts to help as many people as possible benefit from the non-judgmental, unconditional moral and spiritual support offered by the church.

Thomas Huffman said: “City Baptist Church of Albuquerque is a sanctuary from the stresses of the world. We love meeting new people and introducing them to our family here. We do not believe it is the lost’s responsibility to seek the church, but our responsibility to seek the lost.”

“Our passion is not to see how big our local church can become, but rather how much we can grow the body of Christ in this world. Therefore we willingly give away to other churches many of the blessings God has given to us. This is done by providing prayer and financial support to other co-laborers in the world, starting new churches, encouraging hurting churches, sharing what we have learned, learning from others, sending missionaries and much more.”, pastor Huffman added.
