The American Board of Certification (ABC) is pleased to announce that attorney Ahren Tiller has become the youngest lawyer in the history of California to become certified in all three categories of Bankruptcy law specialization. ABC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing responsible and forward-thinking leadership in the field of legal specialization. ABC offers separate certification programs in Business Bankruptcy, Consumer Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Law. The certification is designed to recognize lawyers who meet discrete, objective and rigorous certification standards.Consumer Bankruptcy Law certification is for attorneys practicing in the area of consumer bankruptcy cases, whether representing debtors, creditors, and/or trustees, and includes substantial participation in adversary proceedings and contested matters. The focus of this area is the involvement of individual debtors, and primarily includes chapters 7 and 13.
Business Bankruptcy Law is for attorneys practicing in the area of business bankruptcy cases, whether representing debtors, creditors, and/or trustees, and includes substantial participation in adversary proceedings and contested matters. The focus of this area is the involvement of debtors engaged in business prior to the filing, including both individuals and entities. The Creditors’ Rights area is for attorneys practicing more generally in the area of creditors' rights matters, involving state, federal and bankruptcy courts.
Some of the reasons why Mr. Tiller has gone to the effort of studying for the examination and preparing for this recognized certification is that potential clients are better able to determine where the practice areas are for a particular law office or practice. The certification is a recognition by peer and peer organizations that the attorney has the skills and experience to best represent their clients' interests.
ABC certification encourages attorneys to strive toward excellence and recognizes those attorneys who have met ABC's rigorous standards. The additional certification helps to identify those legal professionals who have taken the additional step of displaying their dedication to a particular area of practice.
