Aerial Camera Systems (ACS) provided unique camera technology, as well as skilled operators and crew to rig and operate at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Sporting events have become more compelling than ever to watch as camera technology has allowed broadcasters to capture moments in dynamic and interesting ways. From high speed cameras and tracking shots to new angles and aerial filming, it can make the experience of watching from home more fulfilling and insightful than watching live. ACS has a reputation for excellence in driving forward such innovations offering their distinctive perspective on this year’s Championships for the AELTC and the BBC.

ACS provided their in-house remote head; the SMARThead™ (www.aerialcamerasystems.com/smarthead), fitted on the umpire’s chair of Centre Court and No.1 Court covering the action at the net and the players inbetween games, utilizing the diverse control functions to get the best possible results.

In addition, they provided the state of the art HD Cineflex V14 stabilised mount (www.aerialcamerasystems.com/aerial-unit/hd-cineflex-v14) mounted on a hoist
in order to deliver all the stunning aerial beauty shots of Centre Court, the entire Wimbledon complex and surrounding sights of London. They also fitted and operated a 10m track with remote head and camera at the baseline on Centre Court, allowing shots to track across the court and never miss the action.

New this year, the company even provided a 6m track at the back of Henman Hill, which delivered shots of the crowd watching the big screen against the backdrop of the London skyline, offering fans a much loved chance to show their support in person from the most famous sideline in the area.

A spokesperson for ACS explained, “We are pleased to continue our relationship with the BBC and AELTC. Working with our clients, we are proud to have developed an increasing range of technological innovations to provide new possibilities for coverage, increasing audience engagement and enhancing the experience for all who watch. Our mission is to push back against impossibility and in doing so give people new insights through novel means, as well as making them feel a part of the action.”
