This week samira buchi NEW YORK is launching its Nativ collection, the first handbag line for the Swiss born, now prevailing New York designer. Her first online collection of luxury handbags is designed to tailor to the sophisticated, self- reliant, yet wayfarer minded female that will provide functional simplicity with an aesthetic coolness.
The uniquest part of samira buchi NEW YORK will be each customer’s personalized experience as she witnesses the creative process of her bag. Samira Buchi understands there is a companionship between the handbag and the person carrying it. Just like the individual, each bag is unique and has its own spirit. So for her it is important to give each woman the rare opportunity to actively participate throughout the various stages of production and watch their bag being made through a personalized online profile and ongoing virtual gander into the studio.

The Nativ collection offers eight different models using a flatline design approach allowing for the bag to transform by what is put inside. The bags are made with soft unlined leather attributing to a minimalist feel. The Aniline leather is free of chrome and selected from the highest quality available. Styles vary between a hobo, tote, messenger, small crossbody and even a basket inspired by Samira’s Mediterranean roots with affordable couture price points ranging from $650 – $1850. Each bag is dreamt and constructed in the heart of Long Island City, Queens from a sunlit workshop surrounded by other artists and new pioneers of the design industry.

ABOUT SAMIRA BUCHI: Samira Buchi was raised in Switzerland by parents of Mediterranean roots – As a little girl, on a family trip in 1979, she remembers visiting New York City, standing in the middle of a gritty SoHo street, and thinking that one day: I will live here. 38 years later she relocated to America to study accessory design at FIT. She made it her purpose to learn everything about leather and how to craft it perfectly for even the most demanding of designs, in a way that it’s strength and quality endures while the lines and construction of each bag provide a structure for each individual, morphing to each’s unique lifestyle.
