KAPOW! Do you have an idea for an awesome new superhero or a super funny pair of friends? 98thPercentile, a fast-growing online learning platform, is hosting an exciting virtual comic strip competition, Comix, for students in Grades 1-6. Contestants will be able to write and draw their very own comic strips.
Comix is a competition in where students will not only put their writing skills to the test but will also be able to share with the world their cartooning skills. Once students register, they will be granted access to masterclasses that teach them how to become expert comic writers. First, children will learn how to develop a storyline in their minds around their favorite superheroes, robots, pets & other fictional/non-fictional characters. And then, they will learn how to transition that storyline into a graphic visualization in form of a comic strip.
Comix contest will be held for 3 different categories: Grades 1&2, Grades 3&4, and Grades 5&6. Grade levels for the competition will be determined by the student’s current school grade. Students will then have access to two different masterclasses. One will show them the correct techniques for writing their own comic and the other the techniques for designing their own storyboard. Younger Comix contestants will have the opportunity to draw out their own comic storyboard. While older comix contestants will have the opportunity to use an online graphic design program. Once all aspects of their comic strips are complete, students will submit their comic strip and they will be posted onto our Social Media Comix Wall.

Students will then be able to submit their Comix entries from June 9, 2021, till June 18, 2021, to promote their comics. Winners will be announced on June 20, 2021.
The best part of Comix is that friends and family will be the judges! Once all comic strips are posted onto our Comix Wall, likes, comments, and shares will determine which comic strip is the best! In the end, a King and Queen of Comix will be crowned. Top 3 writers will earn Amazon Gift Cards, Free Math, ELA or Coding Classes, and Digital Press Release. And ALL winters will earn Comix participation certificates!
