2018 Capay Valley Almond Festival Activities Set for February 25

Esparto Regional Chamber of Commerce, announces the 103rd Capay Valley Almond Festival. The event will be held in The Beautiful Capay Valley in Northern California on February 25, 2018.

The Esparto Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 103rd Annual Capay Valley Almond Festival on Sunday, February 25, 2018. It’s a fantastic time to view the incredible bloom of the Capay Valley’s almond trees and celebrate the rich heritage of the Capay Valley. We are all looking forward to events and activities up and down the Capay Valley. There is something for every member of the family. Don’t forget, you can pick up your PASSPORT for Town Stamps at any of the 5 PASSPORT locations noted below. Get your Passport stamped at 4 of the 5 locations and submit your completed PASSPORT at any of the 5 locations to participate in the Town Stamp contest.


Here are the day’s events, starting at the top of the valley, in RUMSEY and working towards ESPARTO:


RUMSEY ACTIVITIES include a PASSPORT Location at the Rumsey Hall, music by the Mike Osborn Band, Food & Drinks include Full Belly Farm’s popular wood fired pizza, sliders, and various foods (notably almond petal ice cream), handcrafted items by various vendors, lavender products, art show, a children’s play area and local almond harvesting equipment. The Vendor time is 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.


GUINDA ACTIVITIES include a PASSPORT Location at the Guinda Community Grange Hall, music by the Capay Valley Chorus & various instrumentalists & vocalists, Grammy Wyatt’s Famous Almond Rocha, Nona’s Walnut Rocha, homemade Almond (chocolate, vanilla & almond rocha) ice cream, various food (tri-tip lunch) & beverages, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) tasting, children’s petting zoo & pony rides, various displays of farming equipment & machinery, bat & bird houses, leather crafts & ironworks, jewelry, embroidery, handmade glass, specialty soaps, art auction and much, much more.


The Vendor Time is 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.


The Commons Farm Kitchen and The Corner Store will be open for business. The Guinda Volunteer Fire Department will be selling their very popular BBQ Oysters & other BBQ treats with various beverages.


BROOKS ACTIVITIES include a PASSPORT location at the Seka Hills Olive Mill, Hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Featuring live music by JT and the Cheaters, Meet & Greet with Cookbook Author Alice Medrich and food & drink. Of course, the Casino is always open for business.


CAPAY ACTIVITIES include a PASSPORT location at The Road Trip Café and The Honey Store across the street. The Road Trip Café will have live music and Native American dancing, in addition to their menu of delicious food and drink.


ESPARTO ACTIVITIES include a PASSPORT location at The Esparto Regional Chamber of Commerce tent. The Future Farmers of America (FFA) Breakfast is 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Esparto High School Cafeteria. After Breakfast the Almond Festival Queen and her Court will be introduced at the Esparto Park.


BOOKS IN BLOOM Book Sale at the Esparto Regional Library is 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.


MUSIC in ESPARTO PARK:


· 10:30 am – 12:30 pm – Desert Dan Whitney and his sidekick Tim Slaven


· 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Moon Cats (some rock & some western)


The Wolf with FM 101.9 will be broadcasting from the front of Lawson Real Estate at 16907 Yolo Avenue. Please visit and enjoy the music.


Tri-Tip sandwiches & beverages will available at the Esparto Volunteer Fire Department. The Park will be hosting activities including 45+ vendors, carnival rides, Dilly Dally the Clown, and The CAR SHOW by the Madison Fire Department. The Vendor time is 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Vendor space is still available.


The Esparto Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the Annual Almond Cooking and Bake-Off Contest: “EAT MORE ALMONDS” ($100 and $50 cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place!). Stop by the Chamber’s tent to get information on the entire day’s activities.


Additionally, the Countryside Community Church’s Country Store will hold the Annual Giant Quilt raffle and have various vendors for crafts & food.


Lastly, both El Toro Mercado and Hog Canyon will be open for business.


MADISON ACTIVITIES include The Car Show, to be held in Esparto.


The Almond Festival is a gathering place for various motorcycle groups and car clubs from the surrounding region. You will be treated to a wide range of tricked-out and souped-up vehicles throughout the valley.
