The 14-year old student from the Huffton-Lee High School defeated all 38 students from around the globe. Lawrence Khan, a junior high school student in the said school is young for his grade, but still excels, both academically and in sports. Lawrence has been accelerated twice and is now attending a tuition centre bukit timah that is commonly for 17-year-olds.

Nonetheless, Lawrence, a math enthusiast who also happens to have a physics tuition scholarship, is still the chosen national representative despite his young age. “We are proud of Lawrence,” tells Abby Khan, Lawrence’s mother. “Since he was a young child, it has been very obvious that he loves physics. He learned how to count even before he walked; he learned physics formula at a very young age.”

Although it seems like it is already a given, Lawrence’s schoolmates still wish him luck. His closest friends, Ali and Sarah, both 17 year-olds, only have good words for him, “He is like a baby brother to us. He is very smart, but never a show-off. He even teaches us and helps us with our match lessons whenever we get lost with the numbers and formulas.”
