Prospective owners of holiday properties in a new beachside development in Perranporth, Cornwall have been discussing the income potential of letting to holidaymakers through local company Duchy Holidays.

Cornish company Duchy Holidays has experienced an influx of enquiries for its holiday letting service following the sales launch for a new beachside development in Perranporth.

Scores of prospective owners in The Dunes complex overlooking Perranporth Beach have been in touch with Duchy Holidays to discuss the income potential of the apartments and houses, which were recently made available for purchase.

People were reported to be queuing up along the beachfront promenade all weekend for a chance to purchase one of the properties in The Dunes which were released for sale at 6am on Monday 23rd October.

The Dunes is an exclusive, new development of 35 properties being built right next to the beach, on the site of the old Ponsmere Hotel, which was demolished last year.

Property developers Acorn Homes said there has been over 2,700 expressions of interest in the one, two, three and four bedroom properties which range in price from £160,000 to £850,000.

The sales launch has resulted in a stream of enquiries from prospective buyers who are interested in letting their new properties through Duchy Holidays when they are completed next summer.

Michelle Robertson from Duchy Holidays commented: “We’ve had a lot of people coming in or calling for advice on marketing the new apartments as self catering holiday accommodation. Many people are interested in buying the new homes for their rental income potential.

“As a result we have one prospective owner signed up to our service already, and we are anticipating many more new customers as the sales go through.”

To complement the development of the plush properties, the owners of The Watering Hole beach bar and restaurant are building a new bistro on the site of a former World War 2 gun shelter which overlooked the beach for decades until it was knocked down earlier this year. The structure, which served more recently as a bucket and spade shop, was known locally as Alcatraz, which is also the proposed name of the new restaurant due to open next Easter.

Michelle Robertson added: “There’s a lot going on in Perranporth at the moment. This beachfront area is getting a major facelift which can only be good for tourism and the reputation of the village as a major Cornish holiday destination.

“We look forward to talking to other owners at The Dunes over the coming months about the holiday rental potential at this exciting new development.”
