Perranporth based company Duchy Holidays has welcomed the news that its local beach on the North Cornwall coast has been awarded a prestigious Seaside Award.
Perranporth is one of three beaches in Cornwall, along with Sennen Cove and Great Western in Newquay, to have gained the Keep Britain Tidy award for the very first time. The award recognises beaches around the country that meet the very highest standards for cleanliness and facilities.
The team at Duchy Holidays has been singing the praises of Perranporth Beach for decades to guests who come the area to stay in its holiday homes and cottages. The Seaside Award is a further recognition that Perranporth is a first class destination for holidaymakers.
Duchy Holidays represents over 150 holiday properties in Perranporth and the surrounding villages, and also runs the Tourist Information Centre in the village.
The company’s marketing manager Lisa Lloyd commented: “Perranporth must be one of the best loves beaches in Cornwall. We have many customers who return year-on-year because of the staggering beauty of the beach and coastline. The Seaside ward is yet another affirmation that Perranporth is a safe, clean and tidy place to spend time on holiday.”
Assessment of local beaches for the Seaside Awards was coordinated by Cornwall Council and sponsored by Sharps Brewery, located up the coast at Rock.
Malcolm Bell, Chief Executive of Visit Cornwall said: “This is great news for local residents and our visitors. It show the quality of these beaches and give people the reassurance on the excellence of the beaches and bathing waters.”
A spokesperson for Perranzabuloe Parish Council, which oversees the upkeep of the beach, said: “We are pleased and proud to have received the Seaside Award for Perranporth Beach. The beach is a central part of the community and much loved by residents and visitors alike, who have voted it the No. 1 in Cornwall on TripAdvisor. We would like to thank the range of agencies, businesses and individuals who work together to help to look after this beautiful and precious beach, making it a safe and special place to enjoy.”
