Daily Planet, a Chicago design and production studio, has teamed with Streetwise and 20 local artists to make hand-screened designer tshirts for the homeless of Chicago to sell. It’s all part of a campaign called Give A Shi*t. 100% of every dollar raised will benefit Streetwise vendors and Streetwise.
“We’ve been wanting to give back to the community as a company and this seemed like the perfect way to do it,” said Scott Marvel, President of Daily Planet. “Finding the designers and hand-screening each of the 1000 tshirts was the easy part. Making sure they benefited the homeless was the part we needed help with.”
So Daily Planet reached out to Julie Youngquist, the Chief Executive Officer of Streetwise. “This was a perfect fit for our mission. We don’t believe in hand outs but instead we encourage hand ups. Give A Shi*t is the Streetwise program, but with tshirts instead of magazines!”
The shirts will be sold by Streetwise vendors at a one-day-only pop-up shop at the historic Michigan Ave. Bridge Tower at the corner of Michigan Ave. and Wacker Drive on Thursday, December 7th from 10am-8pm.

Each shirt will be sold for $25 and 100% of every dollar raised will benefit Streetwise vendors and Streetwise.
“This is the 3rd year we’ve done this promotion and my hope is that the response will be even better than it was last year. To be able to use our talents to help someone in our community is the greatest gift of all,” Marvel said.
