Biodegradable Wet Wipes Praised for Post-Op Effectiveness

Biodegradable wet wipes find dual use in hospitals, bringing hygiene and comfort to patients recovering from surgery.

Surviveware, a leading online retailer of survival and first aid gear, has been recognized by medical patients for the effectiveness of its biodegradable wet wipes in post-operative situations.

Though formulated with backpackers and campers in mind, the biodegradable wet wipes' qualities also make them ideal for hospital patients. Hospital patients are often unable to wet certain parts of their body, or are bedridden, making showering a difficult endeavor, or completely impossible. Hygiene is a crucial aspect of daily care for a patient, but can be made more difficult by their physical situation, which is where wet wipes come in handy for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the hospital room.

Unlike most wet wipes which contain significant amounts of plastic, and thus take two years to break down, Surviveware's biodegradable wet wipes contain no plastic, and begin to decompose in just four weeks. The wipes are free of harmful ingredients such as parabens, alcohol, perfume, and dyes, helpful to a recovering patient who must be cautious of anything that touches their skin. Surviveware's biodegradable wet wipes contain natural ingredients such as aloe vera and vitamin E, which soothe and nourish the skin, and are hypoallergenic and PH balanced. These are all important aspects for those in recovery, as attested by Surviveware customer Lori in her recent review, "They came in super handy after I had surgery for breast cancer. I bought them because of the name and their organic qualities which were both very important to me at the time. They are a great size for full body cleansing."

As noted by Lori, the wet wipes are large enough that just one wet wipe is needed to fully cleanse a body. At 8 x 12 inches each, these wipes are 20-30% larger than the average wet wipe. She continued, "I liked the fact that they were unscented since a lot of smells aggravate my nausea. They also do not leave any kind of film or residue that can come off on your clothes." Surviveware's wet wipes contain no perfumes and are scent-free, ideal for those who are sensitive to smells.

Finding ways to ease the pain and suffering of a loved one in hospital in turn comforts the family members, turning them from bystanders to caretakers, as evidenced in this anecdotal review by Pat, " I bought the Surviveware Biodegradable Wet Wipes for my mother who is in the hospital. The good news; these [wipes] are absolutely fantastic. Larger size and you can pick up/clean a lot with one. The nurses and techs love them and are grateful we are supplying them. Frankly, I only care about Mom's opinion and she is thankful I found these. My sister is going back to the Middle East and saw these in Mom’s room at the hospital and said I need these for my next assignment! So she too is now using them. They are a super product. The big plus... no poke through hole and none of them has ripped or torn."

"Surviveware is a company of backpackers and trekkers, and that is what we anticipated our customers to be as well. It's been a pleasant surprise to see the medical community, from nurses to EMTs to patients, using our products, and finding out from them that our gear is also suitable in medical situations," said Amanda Condry, co-founder of Surviveware. "We are grateful that our durable, environmentally-friendly products are also suitable for use in hospitals and clinics."
