Young Adults Teens Need Additional Help to Live Successfully

The Help to Stand initiative helps marginalized youth who otherwise lack necessary support in creating a sustainable lifestyle.

The understanding that finding a job, a house, a car and other necessities, while still living under parents discipline is an important, yet often missing message in the lives of many young adults. This puts them at risk for spiraling downhill fast into poverty and even homelessness. The Help to Stand nonprofit organization hopes to alleviate some of these problems for youth that find themselves in such unsavory conditions.

One young man, Mr. Peter (Name Changed) is one young adult who is being helped through the efforts of Help to Stand. Mohan Palleti, the CEO of ET Wizzards and Mr. Ben Keefer have volunteered through this organization to support Mr. Peter reintegrate into mainstream society by finding community support that he needs to find temporary housing and reach his dream of attending cosmetology school.

Mr. Peter's challenges started when he got kicked out of his home for refusing to take his responsibilities seriously. His background of coming from a military family had found him living in several countries around the world. Despite his experiences, he currently can't find employment and makes his home out of a makeshift tent in the woods. He eats by dumpster diving to find edible food. His dream is to be a barber and need the required schooling. Help to Hands, Mohan Palleti, Ben Keefer are making efforts to get that help for him.

On May 8, 2014, Ben Keefer was able to help Mr. Peter find a temporary job as one step toward his goals. Mr. Keefer states, "While it is not possible to help every single Homeless person off the street, we can at least help one who want to make that change. In 2011, one in 45 children in the USA — 1.6 million children — were living on the street, in homeless shelters or motels, or doubled up with other families last year, according to the National Center on Family Homelessness. The numbers represented a 33% increase from 2007."
