McDavid provides participants with anger management exercises and various anger management tools to learn to manage their anger. Group members learn to identify anger triggers and get to the bottom of what is really causing the stress and anxiety in their lives. The supportive group setting allows members to have an open and direct conversation about their anger issues and together the members learn to take responsibility for their angry behavior and anger outbursts. The group meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 PM-8:45 PM in eight week cycles.

When asked about anger management group counseling for women, Rachel McDavid said, “I believe one of the ways we can overcome our anger is to develop our empathy skills. When we more fully understand what might be going on for ourselves and with others we may become less angry. When situations occur that stimulate anger we tend to get an adrenaline surge. Our bodies react by having varying sensations like tightness in our chest, neck, shoulders or sweaty palms etc. Our thoughts then start racing to make sense of what is happening in the body. If we are able to take some space and understand what is going on we can get a little more grounded and focused. We may then start to self connect and by self-connecting we may start to calm down a little. If we are able to sufficiently calm down we might have the capacity to understand and empathize and fully understand what might be going on for the other person in the situation. When we are able to do this, the anger often lessons or even dissipates.”
