Water-to-Go Ltd have announced today they would donate 350 water filters to the Foundation of Goodness, a charity that helps Sri Lankans wanting to to reunite villages, empower the local people, teach skills and educate the children in the wake of the Boxing Day tsunami and a 30-year Civil War..
Water-to-Go Ltd owner Dave Shanks says
“It is amazing to believe that some of Asia, Africa and other parts of the world do not have fresh drinking water in the 21st century. We are currently working with a number of international charities but there is a limit to the number of bottles we can give away so we are looking for a philanthropic business or household water provider to help sponsor some extra bottles.”
The project arose after Water-to-Go supported a 155 mile charity walk undertaken by famous England Cricket star Ian Botham across Northern Sri Lanka in November 2013. The walk was undertaken in a mountainous region in high humidity with temperatures frequently exceeding 50 degrees.
Part of the walk covered the Anaradhapura region where large parts of the population have suffered from kidney problems as a result of water pollution.
Water-to-Go personal filtration water bottles use a a patented technology developed for NASA, that combines three technologies that remove 99.9% of water borne contaminants such as:
• Viruses
• Bacteria
• Water borne cysts
• Heavy metals
• Chemicals including VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
• Parasites.
Ian Botham said: “We are happy with the support from Water-to-Go and Sri Lankan Airlines. We can see that a wider supply of the Water-to-Go bottles and filters could make a huge difference to the children in these areas but we need to work together to increase distribution.”
