Trading Standards have advised It’s handmade Limited to carry out a voluntary recall on Amber bracelets, Amber anklets, Wooden Teether Rattles and Teether Clips due to choking hazards.

Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards have advised It’s handmade Limited to carry out a recall on Amber bracelets, Amber anklets, Wooden Teether Rattles and Teether Clips due to choking hazards.

Trading Standards test results have indicated that if a baby puts an anklet or bracelet into their mouth there is a potential risk of choking.

The following products included are:

– Baltic amber bracelets and anklets

– Teether Clips

– Teether Rattles

The Teether Rattles, Teether Clips, Amber bracelets and anklets that were sold by It’s Handmade between May – September 2016 are of shape and size smaller than permitted dimensions.

The items sold online do not comply with general product safety regulations for children up to and including 36 months of age.

The products are of a shape and size that could potentially enter a child’s mouth resulting in a choking hazard.

No incidents have currently been reported but consumers are strongly advised to remove the items from children immediately and return them to Itshandmade.

Katie from It’s Handmade says, “We have been working closely with Trading Standards in the UK. We take safety extremely seriously. At the time the product(s) were sold we believed that all of our products met the safety requirements. However, given the testing and the subsequent advice of Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards, we have now begun to recall the products. We are truly very sorry for any worry and inconvenience this may caused.”

What are the defects?

Children may put the small parts into their mouth and choke. The product does not comply with the Toys Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.

What are the hazards?

The product poses a risk of choking because small parts (beads) come off in the tension test and the parts fit into the small parts cylinder.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should remove the rattles from children and return them to It’s Handmade.
