Melbourne-based Vein Health clinic has recently announced the introduction of an innovative new technology to their facility. Dr. Peter Paraskevas, the clinic’s Phlebologist, is now using AccuVein and Vision Vein Viewer technology to find hidden spider veins as well as to confirm treatment success after the procedure. Although Vein Health Clinic has long been known for their innovative and effective treatments, introducing this technology has already further improved their patient results.“Though most varicose veins are visible from afar, it’s important for patients to know that not all veins that need treatment can be seen with the naked eye,” said Dr. Peter Paraskevas of Vein Health Medical Clinic. “Some patients have ‘hidden’ veins, which are often tiny surface veins that serve as feeders to the smaller spider veins. If these feeder veins have collapsed or are located just below the skin, it often becomes difficult for the Phlebologist to see and to treat them. We are proud to introduce both Accuein and Vision Vein Viewer to our office because these tools will assist us in ensuring that we don’t miss veins that are too small to be seen on an ultrasound, which in turn improves the accuracy and efficiency of our treatments.
Both AccuVein and Vision Vein Viewer provide vein illumination through infrared technology. By highlighting the underlying reticular veins, Dr. Paraskevas can visualise the veins for sclerotherapy treatments and better map veins for ambulatory phlebectomy. The infrared tools also assist medical professionals during and after procedures by showing foam sclerosant in real time, highlighting veins during transdermal laser therapy, and visually confirming treatment success once the procedure is done.
