Universal Devices, an industry leader in energy management and automation devices, announced an industry first today - a fully compliant, sub $100 OEM platform for Demand Response.Building on the popular ISY994 platform, the ISY-DR is a low-cost, highly embeddable solution for manufacturers who provide energy management solutions to quickly and efficiently implement Demand Response in their products.
The ISY-DR supports the full feature-set of all versions of the popular OpenADR 2.0 and with the addition of a ZigBee daughter card, Smart Energy Profile 1.1. Manufacturers and OEM’s can quickly implement a certified solution without the typical long lead time and costs associated with product development and certification. Legacy energy management systems can be easily be incorporated with ISY-DR to keep pace with today’s demand response energy ecosystem.
Manufacturers can integrate their legacy or new products via an assortment of optional add-on modules such as network Web Services, XML, JSON, relays, serial communications, cellular modems, ZigBee, or Z-Wave protocols. Further communication is effortlessly handled by the ISY-DR to remote servers – such as an OpenADR VTN, Demand Response Automation Server (DRAS), Smart Meters, or a variety of off the shelf devices. The ISY-DR has full support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and RSA x.509 certificates enabling communications to and from the ISY-DR to be fully secured.
