A viral T-shirt based on the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton has exploded across the internet in the hours following the event. The candidates discussed a range of controversial topics and are set to do battle again on October 9.

The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton took place last night between 9pm and 10:30pm and Trump’s infamous wall remark has already been jumped on by a trending T-shirt. Trump and Clinton fired verbal shots at each other in the first of a series of debates, with a number of controversial topics covered as Lester Holt of NBC Nightly News moderated at Hofstra University, in Hempstead New York, including the now infamous wall proposed by Trump.

Divided into six segments of 15 minutes each, the debate focused on some of the most important and controversial topics, including the ever present threat of ISIS and the increasingly prevalent immigration conversation.

Each segment was opened with a question from Lester Holt, with both candidates getting two minutes to respond, with the duelling debaters then getting the chance to respond to each other. It was live streamed on major news networks, including being offered for free on YouTube and Twitter, so more people than ever before could be a part of the historic occasion.

One of the topics was the wall that Donald Trump claimed he would build should he win the election. He originally emphasises that it would be impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, and beautiful, covering 1,000 miles, with natural obstacles taking care of the rest of the Mexican border.

He has since gone on to say that a wall is better than fencing, and much more powerful, which rules out any cheaper option like iron fence posts that could be implemented across the border. Because of this demand for powerful materials, but the vast expense involved in such a big project, concrete would have to be used.

Trump said: “I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I build them very inexpensively.” He went on to claim that the cost of the wall would be around $10 billion, and elaborated on his plans further in the live debate.

The viral T-shirts picked up on this to hugely popular effect, and have fans eagerly anticipating the next debate between Clinton and Trump. The t-shirts can be viewed at: https://politicalfunny.org.
