The results of that study conclusively proved that the vast majority of people only use what they find on the first page of the search results when shopping for products and services online. In the study 71.33% of people clicked on one of the websites that appeared on the first page of the search engine results. Only 3.99% looked deeper and clicked on those websites listed on page 2 of the results.


This consumer behavior makes it all but impossible for smaller travel firms to compete effectively with the large firms who dominate page one of the search results. Large travel firms have huge marketing budgets that they use to pay for SEO services that allow them to rank on page one for general search terms like “flights to Europe”.
