Ricky Donnell Ross—a.k.a. Freeway Ricky Ross— is renowned as one of the first African-American real American Gangsters. In his past life, he made his original fortune in drug trafficking, which eventually caught up with him when he was ultimately sentenced to a life sentence in prison.
But in 2009, set free, Rick Ross recognized that he had a new chance in life and he realized that he was destroying his own people and negatively impacting society and the nation as a whole. So who better to make a call to change than one of the original hustlers?
Today, the Real Rick Ross is focused on promoting unity in the streets, stressing peace and love between all races, creeds, cultures and religions, promoting One Love, with a particular focus on the Black community. He has now partnered with non-profit organization S.O.S. Enterprises and aligned with its nationwide Heal The Hood, “Save Our Streets” project, founded by Leonard Dungee of Atlanta, GA.
In addition, he has launched Entertainment Company Rick Ross Multimedia Group, forging development deals with TV, film and music enterprises. His roster includes: artist, producer, model, radio personality & music executive Anthony Masters (a.k.a. Ambassador Masters); producer & artist Glacé Conway (a.k.a. Amazing Glace); artist Gymini, the “original ambassador of hip-hop”; singer & rapper TP9 (a.k.a. Teiona Gunn); artist Curtis Young—the son of Dr. Dre; and prominent rapper Gerreddi.
Rick Ross Music Group (dba Freeway Rick Ross Music Group) has recently inked a deal with Universal Music Distribution for digital publication and distribution for the RRMG music catalog and digital assets. Additionally, Rick Ross Music Group artists’ music and merchandise is available in FYE stores nationwide.
