The Canadian Institute of Hair and Scalp Specialists announces that they have been featured in the August issue of ELLE Canada.

The Canadian Institute of Hair and Scalp Specialists (www.CanadianHair.ca), a Toronto-based organization offering hair loss treatment for over 25 years, is announcing that founder Ken Robson has been featured in the current issue of ELLE Canada.

ELLE Canada is one of Canada’s biggest fashion and beauty magazines, with over 100,000 regular readers. In the August issue, the magazine details the rising trend of hair loss in women, featuring The Canadian Institute of Hair and Scalp Specialists’ Ken Robson as a quoted expert.

“We’re proud to be recognized as experts on the issue of female hair loss and to help shed light on this growing problem,” says Ken Robson, founder of the Canadian Institute of Hair and Scalp Specialists. “In recent years, our hair clinic has been dealing with an alarming number of female patients. It’s important for magazines like ELLE Canada to help raise awareness about this topic.”

In the article, ELLE Canada reveals some of the surprising statistics behind female hair loss. Between 40 to 50 percent of women will experience some hair loss before menopause, according to statistics. As well, a L’Oreal study found that over a quarter of women between the ages of 14 and 69 have thinning hair.

“There’s this idea that hair loss only happens to men, and this is completely false,” says Robson. “A lot of women suffer from hair loss, and more women are seeking treatment than before. Unfortunately, the issue isn’t talked about much. There is still a lot of stigma surrounding female hair loss.”

Robson notes in the ELLE Canada article that his clinic has seen a 20 percent increase in hair transplants for women in the past five years. He says that the rising number of patients could be due to more occurrences of female hair loss, but that a bigger part is likely due to a greater awareness among women about treatment options.

“Hair transplant surgery is an effective treatment for men, but more women are exploring this option too,” says Robson. “The problem is that a woman’s hair loss pattern is much different than a man’s, and it can be more difficult to treat. Some women will try to ignore their hair loss, but it’s really important to see a specialist before it’s too late.”

Along with hair transplant surgery, the article also explores other treatment options, including topical solutions, supplements, and stress-lowering techniques. Robson says that hair loss is often reversible, but that each case is different.

“There are more treatment options than ever before,” notes Robson. “Of course, some types of hair loss may be better suited to one treatment. It’s really important to see a professional at the first sign of hair loss, so that they can inspect your scalp and determine what would be the most effective treatment.”

The Canadian Institute of Hair and Scalp Specialists is the leading provider of treatments for hair loss. It offers its clients a number of options, ranging from hair transplant surgery to topical hair treatments.
