Small business is alive and well according to Texas based PicPockits. The custom laptop skin makers have launched a Kickstarter campaign to put the power of growing their product directly in the hands of their marketplace.

The spirit of small business is still alive in America. Austin based PicPockits launched a campaign on Kickstarter recently in an effort to prove that the new face of small business success may well be found in crowdfunding.

The family-owned business, which offers an adhesive-backed picture pocket that attaches to the lid of a laptop computer to hold photos, drawings, mementos and more, realized that it can expand faster and more efficiently with the help of the very market they are trying to reach.

“We know we have a great product that is unlike any other laptop skins out there,” says company spokesperson Dennis Ames. “And with Kickstarter, we can offer it to the cutting edge thinkers who know a great idea when they see it and want in on the ground floor. They get our product before anyone else, and we get the capital to expand our production capabilities and product development ideas. We love that win-win partnership.”

The company states that PicPockits are made in the USA and are different because they buy a single laptop skin that allows them to customize it any way they like as often as desired without ever buying another one. With the growing trend for personalizing electronic devices, PicPockits may have launched at an ideal time to tap into a strong growth outlook.

PicPockits currently come in three sizes and in black, white, and pink frame colors, but part of the funding goals for the Kickstarter campaign outline plans for expansion into new designs and sizes, including ideas for devices beyond laptop lids.

PicPockits has a patent pending design that is shown in detail on their Kickstarter.com campaign page video, and has set a funding goal of $10,000 by September 23, 2013. Backers of the project have multiple options, including offers for early supporter special pricing.

Crowdfunding itself is not new, but there is a new push to tap into the immediate power of taking ideas directly to the people, using sites like Kickstarter.com.
