LOS ANGELES (May 27, 2014) – Santa Monica-based precious metal asset firm Rosland Capital on Monday participated in the New Directions for Veterans 4th Day 5k to show their support and raise money for homeless veterans in the local West Los Angeles community.Annual “Walk for Warriors” Memorial
Rosland Capital CEO Marin Aleksov, one of yesterday’s participants, said, “Rosland Capital has always been a supporter of our veterans and is proud to assist in the efforts of New Directions.”
Aleksov and a team of 20 volunteers – dubbed Team Rosland Capital – was the top fundraising team, with a total of $10,252 raised. The money will directly benefit New Directions’ cause: helping end homelessness among veterans. According to the 2013 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, there are currently more than 6,000 homeless veterans on the streets in the Greater Los Angeles area, which includes Santa Monica.
Founded in 1992, New Directions for Veterans (www.ndvets.org) is a 501(c) (3) public benefit corporation that provides comprehensive services to hundreds of homeless veterans and those at risk of homelessness. Last year more than 1,000 veterans and their families benefited from our services which include transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, case management, individual and group therapy, legal assistance, workforce development and much more. There are over 6,000 veterans currently living on the streets of Los Angeles and veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are turning up homeless faster than veterans of other conflicts.
