A one week season of At Last, The Etta James Story has been announced at the Sydney Opera House, starring Vika Bull. The popular show premiered in 2013 and since then has been played to large audiences throughout Australia and New Zealand. It returns to the Sydney Opera House following a sell-out season at Arts Centre Melbourne, and will run from July 12 to July 17.

More information can be found on the show website at: http://room8.com.au.

The show tells the story of the soul singer Etta James and her turbulent life, and features some of her most beloved songs, including Tell Mama, Something’s Got A Hold On Me, Sugar On The Floor, and I’d Rather Go Blind. It also features her iconic signature song, At Last, as well as many other favourites.

Vika puts her heart and soul into this show, and has received glowing reviews on previous runs. Vika is joined on stage by some of Australia’s finest musicians. There are videos on the site showcasing what interested parties can expect before they go to the show. In 2015, the show embarked on a large tour of regional centres throughout Australia and the majority of shows were sold out weeks before opening.

Etta James won six Grammy Awards and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a long and tumultuous career that has influenced a wide range of popular artists. The show covers this, as well as the addiction problems she suffered as a result of a frantic recording and touring schedule.

As well as touching on these issues, it also shows how her passion for life allowed her to overcome these obstacles and continue singing into her seventies.

The season will open at the Drama Theatre at Sydney Opera House, from Tuesday to Sunday. Any interested parties wanting to get tickets for At Last, The Etta James Story can buy tickets on the Opera House website, http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/at_last_20…
