Santa Fe College announces the New Earth Institute Of Southwestern College.

Southwestern College has promoted the concept of community education since its founding. The school’s ‘Community Education Program’ offered training certificates, workshops as well as the Transformation and Healing Conference. Despite the strength of the program the school felt it was time for a change, and is pleased to announce The New Earth Institute of Southwestern College.

“We felt the energy generated by these initiatives and the scope and diversity of the offerings outgrew the name ‘Community Education Programs.’ We wanted a larger energetic container to hold what these programs have become,” says Katherine Ninos, Vice President of Southwestern College.

The New Earth Institute of Southwestern College will continue some longstanding programs that have attracted keynotes and attendees from all over the world, but also allows room for expansion with the new tagline, “Transdimensional Teaching for the World Community.” Professionals will be able to take classes for Continuing Education Credits, attain specialty certificates, attend professional workshops and more. In addition the Transformation and Healing Conference will remain a staple of the school’s offerings under the new banner.

As to the naming of the Institute, Ninos said, “When Jim [Dr. Jim Nolan, Southwestern College President] asked if I had an idea for a name, ‘The New Earth Institute’ came to me immediately. I just knew that was the name. The name is, of course a biblical allusion, and shows up most prominently in the Book of Revelation (the Apocalypse.) In that book, ‘a new heaven and a new earth’ become the metaphorical vision of a transformed and higher consciousness, available to us when we move beyond the limited world of form, ego, personality and fear.”

Now in its 34th year, Southwestern College’s motto is Transforming Consciousness through Education. It is a graduate level institution that focuses on counseling and art therapy. Offering a holistic environment for learning, students undergo rigorous academic work that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions, while also undergoing deep personal transformation in preparation for a career as a helper and healer.
