Erykah Badu, four-time Grammy-award winning soul singer and songwriter, will return to host the 2016 Soul Train Awards, filming November 6 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will air on CENTRIC and BET November 27, 2016 at 8 PM ET.


CENTRIC has announced that Erykah Badu will return to host the 2016 Soul Train Awards, filming November 6 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and airing on CENTRIC and BET November 27, 2016 at 8 PM ET. The four-time Grammy-award winning soul singer and songwriter will take over the stage with her eccentric style, music, spirit and comedic commentary.

The Soul Train Awards is an annual award show that honors the best in Urban music and entertainment. It is produced by the makers of Soul Train, an American musical variety television program with a 35-year history airing from 1971 to 2006. Created and hosted by Executive Producer Don Cornelius, Soul Train primarily featured performances by R&B, soul and hip hop artists. It also included funk, jazz, disco and gospel artists.


The Soul Train Awards began in 1987 with a voting body which includes active professionals in the fields of radio programming, music retail & management and recording artists with records that have charted in designated music trade publications in the year prior to proceedings.


The Soul Train Awards 2016 will feature soulful performances, tributes and special appearances by some of entertainment’s biggest stars. The yearly celebration will honor the best in Soul and R&B from returning legends to the next generation.


Soul Train Weekend 2016 will take over Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas November 3-6. The four-day weekend will feature performances by Jill Scott, Tyrese, Monica, Anthony Hamilton, Jazmine Sullivan, Bell Biv Devoe, Yuna, Tish Hyman and Kid Capri.


The event will include intimate performances, electrifying concerts, an outdoor day party, exclusive late night parties and a special night of comedy with the cast of BET’s The Comedy Get Down with Cedric ‘The Entertainer,’ D.L. Hughley, George Lopez, Eddie Griffin and Charlie Murphy.
