Board Certified Psychiatrist opens new practice in Missouri City, Texas

After years of training and working in a variety of medical settings, Dr. Shannon Sniff, M.D. has opened Fort Bend Psychiatry, a Missouri City psychiatric clinic dedicated to providing the quality of care that meets Dr. Sniff’s standards. From the time she started medical school, Dr. Sniff has dreamt of opening her own clinic. Fort Bend Psychiatry serves patients, 4 to 65 years of age, in the Missouri City, Sugar Land, and Greater Houston, Texas areas.

Dr. Shannon Sniff is a local Missouri City Psychiatrist who diagnoses and treats a wide variety of psychiatric conditions. She has a particular interest in Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. At Fort Bend Psychiatry, Dr. Sniff provides diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and therapy. She makes a concerted effort to spend extra time with both children and adults, in order to listen, show compassion, provide the utmost quality of care, and educate patients and families. “Spending time with my patients and watching them improve are the greatest rewards of my job,” says Dr. Sniff. “There are instances when I realize that my interventions have likely changed the course of a patient’s life, and that is why I became a psychiatrist.”

Dr. Sniff is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She began her education at Texas A&M University, where she graduated at the top of her class as Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. Dr. Sniff then obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Following medical school, she successfully completed a residency in General Psychiatry, and a fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. While at UTMB, Dr. Sniff served as Chief Resident of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and was recognized as a Distinguished Laughlin Fellow by the Henry P. and M. Paige Durkee Laughlin Foundation. Prior to launching her own private practice clinic, Dr. Sniff worked at DePelchin Children’s Center in the Houston and Katy, Texas areas. She continues to work at DePelchin, part-time, providing psychiatric services to adolescents in CPS and foster care residential treatment. Dr. Sniff is an active member of the following organizations: American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Titus Harris Society.

At Fort Bend Psychiatry, Dr. Sniff strives to provide much-needed mental health services to Missouri City and the surrounding community. There is currently a nationwide shortage of psychiatric resources, and Dr. Sniff understands that the idea of patients waiting 2 or 3 months to be evaluated is unacceptable. At Fort Bend Psychiatry, Dr. Sniff makes every effort to provide an initial appointment within 2 weeks. Dr. Sniff currently accepts Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance and provides out of network reimbursement claim forms for patients who have other types of insurance.
