Oakville, Ontario / April 15, 2014 / Julia Wooster, Reiki Master is thrilled to announce the creation of a new Reiki workshop, “Serenity after Sixty”. Serenity after Sixty is a four-hour workshop geared to pre-retirement and retirement age people. Participants will receive Reiki attunements and learn how to practice self-Reiki.
After spending time visiting her in-laws in their retirement residence and seeing how some of the residents were not always the happiest, Julia felt that learning Reiki close to retirement age could help keep people in a more relaxed, balanced and peaceful state throughout the aging process and enjoy a better quality of life.
“I felt that there was a need for people over 60 to learn Reiki for self-care but that they weren’t interested in taking a full Reiki Level One course that involved treating others on a massage table”, Julia said. She continues, “In this workshop, they learn about Reiki, its history, chakras and how to do a self-treatment. The workshop even touches on animal Reiki, because let’s face it, many people have animals and why not help keep their pets healthy while keeping themselves healthy”.
Julia also feels that this is a cost-effective option. At $100 + HST for the workshop, it costs a little bit more than a full Reiki session and the participants will be able to do Reiki on themselves at any time of the day or night. No longer will they have to wait for an appointment time or pay extra to have a practitioner do a house call.
Reiki is a Japanese relaxation and stress relief technique that helps promote healing. It is a light or no-touch treatment. Some experts believe that 75 – 90 percent of all visits to doctors are for stress related problems.
