Reverse Diabetes With Correct Information and Motivational Help

It is widely accepted that diabetics should avoid sugary foods such as cakes and sodas. What is less well known is that so called healthy foods such as whole-grains can also cause a spike in insulin.

It’s a widely known fact that eating cakes, biscuits and other sugar filled goodies causes a spike in blood glucose. For this reason these types of foods are off the menu for diabetics. What most people don’t realize however, is that eating healthy foods such as fruits and whole grains can cause a rise in blood glucose for those who have diabetes. Keeping blood glucose within a healthy range is a full time job for diabetics. There is no “time out” from this disease. Diabetics don’t have the luxury of simply taking a day off from worrying about their blood glucose levels. The problem is there twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

There are other causes of blood glucose spikes apart from just food. Stress, illness and hormonal activity can also affect blood glucose levels. Then, there is the the opposite of high blood glucose which is blood glucose that is too low. This is called hypoglycemia and it’s a very dangerous, even fatal condition for diabetics. Hypoglycemia can be caused by missing meals and also from strenuous exercise. This is why diabetics have to test after exercising and have a glucose snack on hand in case of insufficient  blood glucose.

Add eye disease, heart complications and kidney disease to this continuous worry about blood glucose and it is obvious that a diabetic’s life is not what anyone would wish for. The sad thing is, most diabetics can reverse these problems with a lot of determination and the right knowledge.

People with type 1 diabetes unfortunately have to live with their condition every day, as type 1 is irreversible. Type 2 diabetics, however, do have a choice. They can reverse the disease and live a normal life if they so choose. They will need the correct information and also some motivational help to change the habits of a lifetime.
