Recently Ralph Nader consumer advocate spoke to CNBC in the context of the recent research conducted by Facebook in a discrete fashion. The information of almost 700,000 users of the social media site was utilized in this process to assess how the mood of the users is affected by alternating the news feed be it pessimistic news in the feed or optimistic messages. Mr. Nader believes the social networking site would not have existed without the valuable personal information of the users that Facebook gets for free.

This personal information is the reason for the enormous growth of Facebook and other similar Social Media companies. Nader says Facebook should pay users and states that the Facebook users should start a movement to be paid in lieu of the information that they provide. He has suggested that Facebook should pay their users regularly for ongoing researches and content of this sort. He stated, “The users should be paid for the information not only for these experiments but also for data utilized by the advertisers on the social media site that advertisers use to target their audience. There should be a paid relationship between the social networking media and the users.”
He is of the belief that when a site like IQ Konnect can pay the user, the other social media sites should also do the same. IQ Konnect, a wholly owned subsidiary of iQLife has collaborated with a new social media site and has decided that the “First Inviters”, those people who join before the official platform launch, will be the only source enabled to invite other users. The owners of IQ Konnect are entrepreneurs whose aim is to distribute the revenue generated by the site among the affiliates and free users of the site as suggested by Ralph Nader. The uniqueness of this site lies in the fact that users will be rewarded for their efforts. There will be a redeemable point system whereby users will be able to earn gift cards to various retailers similar to Walmart, Target, Home Depot and the like. Premium upgraded users will also participate in a revenue sharing model yet to be disclosed.
The connections will be initiated from the First Inviters and new users can only join the site through an invitation similar to the beginning of Pinterest. After the site becomes live, there will be no more “First Inviters”. Just like any other Social Media site the users can login, create a profile through which the users can connect with people and invite others into their connected grid system. The key to this is to have more personal connections that will lead to more rewards.
