There are homes in Toronto with green space around it, some with landscaping, gardens and trees. Property with trees is considered an asset and greatly enhances property value.

“Mature trees, if maintained correctly, can fetch an additional 5-15%.” says Jason Hummel, a recently certified Real Estate Agent.

The roots of trees can at times damage drains and result in flooding, or get into foundations and cause issues. At such times property owners may be forced to look for an agency that undertakes tree removal, in order to safeguard the larger investment.

“Most people underestimate trees and their growth patterns. Sometimes the root system is twice the size of the canopy above.” says Darryl from Tree Care Toronto.

Tree removal is not just cutting the branches and trunk of the tree, and removing all the resultant debris. Large trees can become hazards that can damage the walls of the property during their removal.

“This makes it necessary to hire licensed professionals to do the job. There are a lot of questionable practices going on in the GTA since the business boomed last winter. Find a company that has the right equipment and experience.” Ask them to obtain the necessary permissions if these are legally required.

The stages of tree removal are tedious yet obvious: the small branches and all vegetation is removed, then the major branches are looped off. The tree trunk is then cut in sections and finally the ground surrounding the tree is dug up to remove all the roots.

Debris from the removal must be transported. If the homeowner has a fireplace that can burn wood, and that type of wood is cleared by the company, the tree removal company will cut up the wood for you. Certain breeds of tree cannot be used for firewood or transported in Ontario.
