All lovers of epic fantasy books in the form of Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings will be delighted to learn that Paul Coey has signed with Iguana Books, Canada, on 6th September, 2014, for publication of The Messenger, prequel to The Banished, first of the Age of Endings series.

Paul Coey, a local engineer and writer is delighted to announce that he has signed a contract with the innovative Iguana Books publishing company based in Toronto, Canada. The deal will cover his debut novella, The Messenger, followed by The Banished, first of the epic Age of Endings story arc. The remaining books in the series will be published through 2015 and 2016.

Paul Coey has been working on publication for several years while trying to balance family and working life with developing his writing career, traveling occasionally to Ireland to see his family, and visiting Scotland to meet his daughters.

Set in the fictional continent of Annessa, “The Messenger” is a dark fantasy tale following Falnir Aasberg's harrowing journey from the chaos of war-torn Ennor on his quest south for aid. Enduring brigands, hunger and unspeakable hardship in Annessa's bitter midwinter, Falnir struggles with his conscience when faced with the loss and murder of his wife, his sanity slowly unraveling among the ghosts of those met and lost along the way: men he admired, women he loved, the children he could not save. A broken, haunted man, Falnir must deliver his message to save thousands—maybe even himself.

When Mr Greg Ioannou of Iguana Books remarked that, “We're excited that you brought these to us. I think the books are terrific, and I'd love to be able to publish them. They also fit in well with the other fantasies we've already signed,” Paul replied: “It's fantastic. I'm absolutely delighted. Iguana Books has a really good reputation and I'll be working with an editor I know very well, so I'm really excited about this. There's work to be done, of course, but these are the moments writers live for, so I'm just going to enjoy the whole journey,” he added with a smile. “The book deals with some big themes and modern issues despite its medieval setting, but I hope that readers enjoy the story while gaining a better grasp of the problems facing individuals and societies during war, especially women in those circumstances.”
