A married couple from the UK have come up with an ingenious idea, harnessing the power of the internet, to re-create the popular music, comedy and commercials of the 1940’s by launching an online old time radio station www.1940sukradio.co.uk


If anyone has lived through the war years and have fond memories of the many radio programmes that lifted people’s spirits and morale in those very dark times, or just enjoy anything associated with that era and want to take an amazing nostalgic trip back to re-visit, then 1940s UK radio station is not to be missed.


This online old time radio station has an appeal to many, along with those who have personal memories of the 1940’s, but also for WW2 living history re-enactors hence the the mixed bag of news, music, comedy, quizzes etc, and details of themed events and activities around the UK.


Shaun Moncaster the founder and producer says “Anyone who has an interest in that period, including those who are studying the subject or those who simply want to enjoy something exciting and different, should tune in”.


The colorful and highly knowledgeable line-up of presenters, to name a few, include Jay Lawrence from Stateside USA, Tony Jacobs with Magic Moments, Steve Ashley with his Hot Pipes a nostalgic blend of theatre-organ and wonderful wurlitzer music, and Lynda Moncaster herself with a regular show ‘40’s Favourites’. Playing dedications it is based on the BBC’s ‘Forces Favourites’ programme that was led by Majorie Anderson back in those days.
