Nova C60 weighs in on a study that revealed that the market for salicylic acid is expected to grow to $426.8 million by 2020.

Nova C60 (www.novac60.com), a leading provider of unique health and beauty products, offers their opinion on a study that projects that the global market for salicylic acid will grow to $426.8 million by 2020.

The study from Grand View Research Inc. revealed that an increasing number of cosmetics, including everything from hair care to skincare products, contain salicylic acid. Face creams are amongst the many beauty products that it is used in. Additionally, it is also used in anti-inflammatory medication and as an ingredient in preservatives and flavoring for food.

“We’ve known about the benefits of salicylic acid for acne and fighting the signs of aging for years,” says Brad Lawson, owner of Revolutionary Brands Inc., a leading supplier of Nova C60’s skin care products. “We’ve watched the use of salicylic acid grow and Grand View’s findings don’t surprise us in the slightest. That’s why we got in on the ground floor!”

The pharmaceutical, food, and preservative industries had the largest sales of salicylic acid in 2013, accounting for 70%. This number is expected to grow by 6.8% by 2020. Europe is currently the largest consumer of the product with demand expected to grow to 42 kg annually by 2020. North America and Asia Pacific followed with the use of products containing salicylic acid, expected to grow by 7.6% by 2020.

Salicylic acid is a naturally-occurring ingredient that is used in a number of skincare products because of its benefits in fighting acne. It works as an anti-inflammatory, hence its use in pain medication such as Aspirin. The growing number of consumers looking for healthy skin is one of the many factors expected to drive an increase in its use over the next five years.

“Customers in North America are quickly learning what people in Europe have known for some time,” says Lawson. “That salicylic acid is highly effective for treating acne and the visible signs of aging. There’s nowhere to go but up for products containing this ingredient and we plan to continue to offer quality products containing salicylic acid to our customers.”
