Nigeria Automotive Summit, Facilitating a New Era in Automobile Manufacturing

The Nigeria Automotive Summit will take place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel on Monday May 16th, 2014.

Kempstone Media, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the National Automotive Council is pleased to announce the 2014 Nigeria Automotive Summit. This years summit will be a landmark gathering of Government and industry leaders, the event follows on from the Federal Government’s October 2013 introduction of a new automotive policy, the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP).

The NAIDP is a 10 year strategic framework that incorporates measures and incentives which have been designed to expand the nation’s vehicle and auto-parts manufacturing industries.

A spokesperson for Kempstone Media said, “The automotive sector is a key component of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment’s five year Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP), which aims to diversify Nigeria’s economy and increase the manufacturing sectors contribution to the country’s GDP.”

The summit will highlight opportunities for investment, joint ventures, industrial infrastructure development, vehicle sales, cooperative technology development, education and training. In addition, the crucial steps that are being taken by the Nigerian government to support and maximize the potential of the country’s automotive industry will be shared. One confirmed speaker at the event will be Nigeria’s Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Mr. Segun Aganga. Mr. Segun Aganga recently said that he was greatly encouraged by the progress the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan had made, “Announcements have been made by reputable and global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) that they are coming to establish their automotive assembly plants in Nigeria. Nissan has said that it is coming to Nigeria, and that its first car will be produced in the country by the end of April.”

Other speakers at the event will include: Jelani Aliyu, Senior designer at General Motors and designer of the Chevy Volt and Alec Erwin, former south African Minister of Public Enterprises.
