New Research Shows an Inadequate Amount of Sleep Impacts Organ Health

Reishi Force's latest article uncovers the dangers of sleep deprivation, and reveals the direct impact it can have on overall health both now and in the future.

As part of their ongoing efforts to provide the best information on health and wellness, Reishi Force has published a new article highlighting the findings of a new study that prove sleep deprivation causes lasting damage to organs and cells. This critical information proves that the fast-paced life many Americans lead is increasing their risk of chronic disease in the future.

Most notably, this study uncovered that a consistent lack of sleep could cause direct harm to the lungs, small intestine, and liver. Test subjects either entered a partial sleep state or were completely sleep deprived, but both groups experienced the same consequences with detrimental cell damage and death occurring. However, researchers did find that sleep recovery helped to restore the damaged cells back to health, but if the habit persists the consequences could be irreversible.

In discussing the results of this study, Carl Everson, Ph. D, Professor of Neurology and Cell Biology said,

“The study culminates years of work and provides physical evidence that sleep deprivation injures cells and that sleep recovery restores the balance between, among other parameters, DNA damage and repair. This is important because specific physical underpinnings that pose disease risk from sleep deficiency have been elusive and are now becoming identified.”

Researchers believe that, in addition to getting an adequate amount of sleep, other practices can be taken into consideration to protect organ health and prevent future disease. When asked about this article, lead researcher at Reishi Force, Anne Finney, said “With so many people living a fast-paced life and not allowing their bodies the proper amount of rest, the prevalence of disease in the community will continue to increase at an unprecedented rate. We felt it was our duty to help shed some light on these findings, and educate people on what they can do to protect themselves.”
