Canadian winters are far from being mild and this really showcased during the winter that was had last year.

“As many people have found the winter time in Canada can be a harsh time. It often leads to extreme and consistent cold and a hard time on the furnace.” says Meteorologist Christopher Turner of AM 570 News. “The problem is the winter months tend to catch people off guard and this easily leads to them having their furnace fail when the winter sets on. Admit-tingly, there's a few people in the station's office that are guilty of that.”

This could easily be avoided if people know about how important it is for them to have the proper furnace maintenance performed before the winter months start to hit. Awareness is everything.

“The lack of a consistent draft to pull the carbon monoxide out of the home is an issue. Most homeowners do not get the system and exhaust cleaned of obstructions on a regular basis and this often leads to two things: the furnace not working properly or even worse, having undetected poisonous gases that can easily harm people.” says HVAC Specialist Ron Potter from Laird & Son.

A proper maintenance schedule will make sure all the burners are operating properly. When the burners are properly operating it is going to allow the furnace to be more efficient, but also avoid a lot of waste. People will have a lower bill on their gas bill each month, but also have a better operating furnace that is not going to break on them right away when the first cold snap hits and they have to start using the furnace more.

Finally people will find the furnace needs to be maintained to guarantee it is going to not have any problems when the winter months strike. When the winter hits the furnace tends to be on almost every hour or so, depending on the temperature people have the thermostat set for. Since they are on so often they need to be properly oiled and ready for the weather. When the heating system maintenance is performed it will be ready for the harsh winter and being used on a regular basis.
