Children love to visit the dentist where they can meet Gracie, the therapy dog, and receive a treatment plan that fits their unique personality, reports LovellPediatricDentistry.com

Lovell Pediatric Dentistry proudly announces the grand opening of their new pediatric dentistry clinic on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Located in Homewood, Alabama, the clinic specializes in dentistry for children and provides infant and toddler oral care, care for special needs children, dental trauma and emergency treatments and oral hygiene. The clinic only sees children and teens, making it the perfect choice for parents wanting specialized care for their youngsters.

"Children love visiting our clinic thanks to Gracie, the therapy dog found at the practice. My wife and I adopted Gracie in 2013 at a Camp Smile a Mile fundraiser. Gracie comes from a long line of dogs who serve, as her mother is a cadaver dog employed by the state of Georgia and her dad works with those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Gracie obtained certification through Pet Partners and Hand in Paw, making her the perfect therapy dog for children, and she enjoys her time at the clinic where she makes children feel comfortable," Dr. Adrian Lovell explains.

Oral needs change as a child grows. Expectant mothers must understand what they need to do to give their child a good foundation for their teeth. Bacteria in the mouth can lead to complications during labor and delivery. In addition, this bacteria, which is responsible for gum disease and cavities, may be passed from mother to child. Parents need to ensure they get proper dental care even before the child is born for optimal oral health.

"Education remains essential to the proper care of one's teeth, and Lovell Pediatric Dentistry makes this the cornerstone of the practice. With good dental habits, one's teeth will be happier. Proper education starts before the child is born, and the practice wants to ensure parents understand this. This is only one of many ways the practice works to ensure great oral health for a child from birth on," Dr. Lovell continues.

Children need to enjoy visits to the dentist if they are going to have a lifetime of good oral health. Children vary greatly in terms of their personality, however, and many adult dentists fail to take this into consideration. For example, 25 percent of children between the ages of 13 and 18 suffer from an anxiety disorder, according to TheInclusiveChurch.com. A dentist needs to recognize this and work to reduce any anxiety the child is experiencing.

"Visit Lovell Pediatric Dentistry to discuss the needs of your child. We are more than happy to work with you to ensure your child receives timely treatment for all of their dental needs. Dental health is of great importance and our practice wishes to ensure every child has proper dental care, regardless of their unique needs. We'll work with parents to make certain this is the case," Dr. Lovell declares.
