Austin Freight Systems, AFS is celebrating their 20th Anniversary, which commemorates 20 profitable years in business. This is a huge milestone for the “Austin Original,” Texas-based Freight Transportation & Logistics company. The freight brokerage has provided low cost truckload and LTL freight transportation services to Supply Chain Managers and Warehouse Managers since 1996.
Austin Freight Systems got its start in May of 1996 when founder Brian L Sutton & George K Copeland wanted to start their business to better serve the Texas truckload market.
One of the earliest challenges Austin Freight Systems faced in the business was hiring on good people.
While every business of course faces challenges, some, like Austin Freight are fortunate enough to enjoy real successes, wins and victories too. Once such victory came when Austin Freight hired on their Director of Operations, Jim Gunter, who has been with the company for over 19 years.
Brian Sutton, CEO and part-owner at AFS, was also quoted when discussing another big win. “One of the high points of Austin Freight Systems’ history so far was gaining those key accounts within that first year.” Sutton also said, “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 20 Year Anniversary. I believe the secret to success and getting this far in business today is that we are always looking for solutions to our customers’ needs.”
Austin Freight Systems currently consists of 14 employees and has big plans for the upcoming year, including moving to a new building in South Austin. One of their core objectives is to provide low cost freight hauling solutions to their customers and to also develop their employees long-term.
