The phenomenal success of online classified lists such as Craig's List have encouraged a number of other sites to pop up over the Internet in recent years. In fact, although the classified business has dominated newspapers for the last hundred years, the influx of online classifieds sites is still very much in state of constant change. The growing number of web companies, both new and established is a fact, but few are dominating the field, with most choosing niche markets of classifieds, instead. With a number of sites for consumers to choose from, Folk explains, it is a good idea to spread the search for a good place to list or find a suitable classifieds advert well beyond the large classified sites in order to reach the intended target market. "You just never know where someone is going to look, so why not take advantage of both the free sites and the less expensive paid ones? When it comes to online advertisements, you always have the option to go after paid search marketing or otherwise free advert posting. Since more people are hanging out online, people tend to prefer looking over free classified ads sites. It just makes sense."
Folk encourages advertisers to update their advertisements often, writing clear concise posts with plenty of details, but not exaggerations. "Truth in advertising will work every time, lend credibility to your post and to the site as a whole." Says Folk. He also encourages those who need to sell something quickly to consider the paid advertisements as they historically bring in the greatest number of responses.
