LawyerFair, the find a solicitor and lawyer comparison service dedicated to the commercial market, recently closed a seed round of £160,000, with follow on options for further investment.LawyerFair provide a free service that helps business owners find a lawyer. Not only do they compare lawyers but they also provide a bespoke matching service to help find the commercial lawyer that best suits their customers’ legal needs and budget.
They handle a range of commercial work from SME legals to legal procurement service and In-house counsel requests. Robert Hoadley, Head of Asset Management at Criterion Capital, used LawyerFair and described it as… “a simple portal that saved us a great deal of time … I wouldn’t hesitate to use the service again."
Seed investment was led by Boundary Capital alongside other experienced investors including a Private Family Office, a barrister and an ex-managing partner of a regional law firm who will also act as Chairman.
As CEO Andrew Weaver explains: “We took our time raising this investment as it was important to find the right investors, as well as the raw cash. Alongside the capital injection, we’re inheriting additional firepower to the team that will help us accelerate growth and deliver ever improving benefits for the buyers and sellers of commercial legal services. We launched locally in 2014 but where we focused initially on the London solicitor and customer, we’re now ready to expand rapidly across the UK and beyond, with an efficient and competitive process that helps increase choice and reduce high legal costs.”
Dr David Gee is Boundary Capital’s investor director and commented: “The SME legal services market in the UK is huge but the delivery of services is fragmented and disparate. We see a substantial opportunity and were excited by the way that LawyerFair systematically tackled the issues required to address this need. Whilst the business is still relatively young, we are greatly encouraged by the user testimonials on both sides, and the growth in the services which evidences the benefits to the market as a whole.”
The investment will help LawyerFair accelerate towards aggressive growth targets and continuous improvement of key operational pillars, delivering great value and customer experience to business owners and lawyers alike. They will also develop additional tools to assist customers and already deliver regular free legal updates, specifically focused on issues affecting business owners.
