Keiser University launches statewide tour in Florida to introduce their new football team and head coach. Doug Socha, the new head coach, will be touring the state to speak about the new program.

Keiser University’s first ever football coach, Doug Socha, will kick off a statewide tour in Tallahassee introducing the University’s new football program on Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. With a notable track record of building successful teams from scratch, Socha will meet with members of the high school coaching community, athletic directors, and local leaders to share the process of building a collegiate team from the ground up, prior to the first expected game in Fall 2018.

Selected after a nationwide search led by former University of Miami and University of Louisville coaching great, Howard Schnellenberger, Socha joins the Keiser University Seahawks from the Buffalo Bills, where he spent the past season as an offensive assistant. Prior to his season in the NFL, he was the head coach of Oxbridge Academy. As the first head coach at Oxbridge, he built the inaugural program and in 2015 led the team to a 9-3 record and the district title.

Overall, Socha has coached in four state title games, won as Head Coach in 2011 and has an overall record of 50-11. In addition to his team’s success, he was twice named Sun-Sentinel Coach of the Year (2011 and 2015), Nike Coach of the Year (2011), the Miami Dolphins Coach of the Year (2011), the Gulf Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year (2013) and the Gulf Coast Conference Coach of the Year (2014).

Socha will be joined by Keiser University Athletic Director (AD), Kris Swogger, who in just his first year as AD was named the Sun Conference 2017 Athletic Director of the Year. Swogger oversees Keiser University’s 22 intercollegiate athletic teams competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He also serves on the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship planning and ticket committee (2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017) and NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship planning committee (2016, 2017), among many collegiate athletic organizations.
