Keiser University continues statewide tour in Florida to introduce their new football team. Doug Socha, the new head coach, and Athletic Director Kris Swogger complete visits to Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

Keiser University’s Head Football Coach, Doug Socha, and Athletic Director Kris Swogger are launching their new football program with a statewide tour that started in Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

On Monday, August 7, Socha, Swogger, and Belinda Keiser, Vice Chancellor of Community Relations and Student Advancement at Keiser University, greeted local high school coaches, athletic directors, principals, and other community leaders at the Keiser University Tallahassee Campus for the first of a series of “Meet and Greets” across the state. State Representative Loranne Ausley joined in on the festivities and introduced Keiser University Athletic Director Kris Swogger during the program.

The Tallahassee community had an opportunity to learn about Seahawk Athletics and the new football program. With a strong focus in the classroom and on the field, Socha shared that, “We will be a program that embeds ourselves in the community, and competes for championships while representing Keiser University in a first-class manner."

“Our mission statement for our athletic program is to prepare our students for life by teaching skills and habits that lead to success, and help them to understand that winning is a byproduct of establishing successful habits,” Belinda Keiser stated on Monday evening.

Keiser University Chancellor and Co-Founder, Dr. Arthur Keiser joined Socha and Swogger for their second stop in Jacksonville on Tuesday, August 8. “I believe that football is a fantastic platform for our students to become leaders in their community,” Keiser shared with local high school coaches and community leaders. State Representative Elizabeth Porter discussed the importance of athletics and teamwork for students today.

Coach Doug Socha joined the Seahawks after being selected from an extensive nationwide search led by coaching great Howard Schnellenberger. Socha has coached in four state title games and has a 50-11 overall record.

In his first year as Athletic Director, Kris Swogger was named the Sun Conference 2017 Athletic Director of the Year. Swogger serves on the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Planning and Ticketing Committee and the NAIA Women’s Gold National Championship Committee, while also overseeing Keiser University’s 23 intercollegiate athletic teams.

Keiser’s statewide tour continues in September with stops in Tampa and Fort Myers.
